Hi there,
I'm Michele! I came across this website during a bit of an insomniatic bout at 7 in the morning. The format and the introductory pages look appealing and so I'm hoping that there really are enough people, mentors and those struggling, to make this a fun and supportive place to hang out for awhile.
Personally, I want to shed 18 pounds that I've put on in the last 14 months! I've never had trouble losing weight at any time, but I'm a little older now and I could practically see my metabolism grinding to a halt. Very little changed in my environment over the past year diet wise, but I spent a most of my time traveling and stress was high.
Also, I'm working on getting insurance to see a doctor and have my thyroid check for low hormone output on a clinician's recommendation, though that may take many months to achieve. In the mean time, kickstarting my system with healthier eating, more exercise, and an active account of all this won't hurt anything and will actually give me quite a comprehensive record to show my doctors in the future should the need arise.
That's all I wish to share for now, I hope to see a response or two over the course of the day...I'd love to make contact with someone in a similar position or a mentor who doesn't mind pushing me towards my goal!
Stay

That is great that you will be journaling.  Simple steps create the motivation you need.  To kick start your metabolism, start your day with a glass of hot water and lemon.  The most important thing to help your metabolism is to eat 6 small meals a day and to eat within the first hour of waking.  Putting these steps into your day can help out.  I lost 30lbs last year after a friend told me about Take Shape for Life - the coaching division of Medifast. Got on the program, then became a Health Coach I loved it so much.  If there is anything I could do to support you, please let me know.  Just remember if we are not diligent about our eating plan we can gobble an extra 619 calories per day between Thanksgiving and Jan 7.  If you want to learn more about the program I coach for go to http://www.coachbslim.tsfl.com  The coaching and support are free!  - Coach B - Bonni
